Well…uhm…. The truth is – you cannot “cheat” or “hack” Evony. Evony is a browser game and you cannot type “cheat codes” in the World Chat to obtain easy resources, gold, or even to speed up construction times.

The following is stated by an Evony Liason Representative:

“Evony has not agreed nor approved any third party non-related site, software or program at this time. Use of such items will place your account in jeopardy of being banned and removed.”

Evony means that they do not (and should not) approve of any Evony autos or Evony bots.

These are very common questions that players ask.

Well, quite simply, you are not getting hacked. Nobody is hacking your Evony account. There are two possibilities of what is happening to you and I will go over one of them in this guide.

You are getting phished. What is phishing?

Phishing – “The practice of luring unsuspecting Internet users to a fake Web site by using authentic-looking email with the real organization’s logo, in an attempt to steal passwords, financial or personal information, or introduce a virus attack; the creation of a Web site replica for fooling unsuspecting Internet users into submitting personal or financial information or passwords”

In this case, it is most commonly when a person makes a fake Evony server or forum where he/she attempts to trick Evony players into entering their username and password.

Please be sure to check the url that you are putting your username and password on! If somebody sends you a link and tells you that a new server is released, then be sure that it is the real Evony and not a fake.

Those are the words of an immature, un-intelligent Evony player who thinks he/she can hack Evony for his/her own gain.

First, let’s look at the definition of hack in this case:

Hack – “To use one’s skill in computer programming to gain illegal or unauthorized access to a file or network”

Now, let me explain the complexity of hacking Evony. Since Evony is a browser game, there is no way to actually “hack” into the game unless you obtain the hosting access. In order to gain the hosting access, a person would need to weedle the information out of someone, or attempt to keylog somebody with the information. All of this is completely illegal, and would land a person in jail for a very long time. The hacker would have to proceed to tampering with files on the hosting server, and end up getting caught in the end because it would be very obvious is somebody had unlimited troops upkeep, resources etc. Then as I stated, the hacker would go to jail.

So, in short, hacking Evony is nearly impossible, and would put you in prison for years. It’s not worth it, and there are no Evony “hacks” that you can download off the internet.

* If anyone is offering to give you an Evony hack, it probably contains a virus or keylogger to phish or crack your Evony account. I will go into phishing and account cracking in a later article.

Now this is very annoying to people who are legitimately trying to use the world chat. In addition, it is an obscene abuse of the world chat and rude to the new players of Evony. These people who are sending these messages should be reported and permanently banned from ever playing Evony again.

There is no such thing as a Evony cheat. There is no way to type something so that you can automatically obtain the resources lumber, stone, food, or iron. So please do not make a fool out of yourself by typing “cheats” that somebody cleverly told you about.

Straight to the point: do not press ALT-F4 or ALT-W. These will close your browser and leave you very confused. It is simply a sad joke to get “newbies” to become bewildered at why their screen went away.

So next time you see someone trying to “cheat”, or somebody telling another person how to “get free gold”…report them, and make yourself feel a little bit better.
